Communities Against Reagill and Sleagill Turbines (CARST) is a grass-
PRE has submitted a scoping report for the installation of 11 giant wind turbines, each up to 410ft (125m) tall, just a few hundred yards above the villages of Reagill and Sleagill, Cumbria. It is now thought that their plan may be expanded to include two more giant turbines.
A 51 m high wind mast has recently been erected in preparation for a planning application. We expect that if it were to get planning permission this turbine cluster would derive about 60% of its revenues from subsidies, not the wind. If this project goes ahead, we fear that our tax money will enrich people who want to disfigure our countryside with giant industrial structures that will dominate the local landscape and be seen from

Furthermore the turbines:
a) will not make significant C02 savings because they'll require constant back-
b) will harm the landscape & wildlife during construction
and operation
c) will substantially reduce house prices (nearby houses may well be
unsellable)
d) will open the floodgates and make it more, not less likely, that other
similar structures will be erected in the Eden area.
